Our Company Philosophy
Cocoplum Design Studio works to one formula, and we apply all of it to every project: neuroarchitecture, biophilic design, interior psychology and modular construction. Each is worth having on its own. None of them delivers much on its own. Together they are what lets us design a space that is beautiful to look at, right to be in, and buildable to the standard it was drawn to.
Design Backed by Science
Most interiors are decided on taste. Ours start with what is known about how people respond to a room: to daylight, to quiet, to natural materials, to the way spaces follow one another. There is a serious body of research behind all of it and very few studios read it, which is our unfair advantage and yours. It means we can tell you why a room will work, rather than simply that it will.
Our founder, Ozge Fettahlioglu, is a practising neuroarchitect, a lecturer at Western Sydney University, a Board Director of Biophilic Cities Australia and a member of the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture.
Designed and Made by the Same Studio
Through Boxareno, our ISO-certified manufacturing arm, we design and produce our own FF&E, joinery and modular room packages. Very few practices hold both halves. It means the piece that arrives on site is the piece that was specified, and it removes most of the cost and programme risk that sits in the gap between the two.
We also agree what a project should achieve before we design it, then look at whether it did. For a hotel that might be guest satisfaction, repeat bookings or RevPAR. For a home it might be as simple as whether people sleep better in it. Design that is never measured can never be improved.
An Australian Studio Working Internationally
We are based in Sydney and work throughout Australia, with projects delivered across the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Our work includes properties under the Hilton, Ritz-Carlton, Swissôtel, Marriott, Hyatt, Accor and IHG flags, and our manufacturing and logistics network is built for international delivery.
Creating a Better Future
“Elevate your surroundings, elevate your future” is a commitment rather than a catchphrase. Buildings outlast the decisions that shape them, and most of those decisions are made quickly. Making them on the basis of how people actually live is the most durable value we know how to add.
